Where Have I Been?

I bet you think I disappeared. But I'm still here. Though I haven't been cooking as much as I would like. Instead, I've been hard at work on that top-secret project I mentioned in my last post.

It's official now, so are you ready to know what the big news is?

David and I are launching a new growers- and producers-only farmers market, in association with Whole Foods Market at the Quarry. This market will be held on Sundays from 8 am until noon, year-round, rain or shine.

It all becomes reality on Sunday, May 1 at 8 am, when we will set-up for the first time in the Quarry Market parking lot, adjacent to Whole Foods Market.

We're gathering the best of the best of Texas!

The produce farmers we have on board to date are mostly organic growers. You'll find the best tasting grass-fed beef my husband has ever had. Gorgeous pastured chickens and eggs. Homemade cheese, hummus, tapenade, pestos and other gourmet spreads. Handmade gourmet pasta. All-natural tamales that are better than anything you've ever had. Made without lard, these tamales come with authentic fillings and flavorful salsas. Naturally, Cowgirl Granola will be part of the pack, as will that fabulous taco truck we told you about last week.

What will distinguish this farmers market from others is that we are building in an innovative, educational component. This will include a series of lectures and seminars that will be guided and directed by the two of us along with our esteemed Board of Advisors. To date, we have five highly regarded professionals who are food, environmental and health-minded.

We will also have live music, cooking demonstrations and seasonal special events.

So, please tell your friends and family about this exciting new venture. We're on Facebook and you can LIKE us right now.

We appreciate your help in spreading the word and can't wait to see you there!

Hi Heather- We think you have a great plan to include education. Are you accepting applications to sell grass-fed beef and lamb? We have a local business just south of San Antonio and would enjoy the opportunity.
